ABOUT us

The Biography Bookshop is a London-based website which brings you the best of biography. You can watch videos of 60 authors talking about their work, and if you are in the UK you can buy the books online through our partner bookshop.org - with 10% of what you pay going to support independent bookshops.

CHOICE OF BOOKS

Prize winners. The core of our selection are biographies that have in recent years won, or been shortlisted for, the following book prizes: Baillie Gifford Prize, Duff Cooper Prize, Financial Times Schroders Business Book of the Year, James Tait Black Prize for Biography, Orwell Prize for Political Writing, Pulitzer Prize for Biography, and Royal Society Science Book Prize.

Best of lists. Other books are taken from recent ‘best of’ lists in publications such as the Guardian, the Economist, the Financial Times, the New York Times and the New Yorker.

Classics. We also include some classic biographies which are still in print.

BOOKSHOP.ORG

The Biography Bookshop is an affiliate of bookshop.org, who will deliver throughout the UK any books you order from this website. Bookshop.org provides financial support to local, independent bookshops throughout the UK and describes itself thus:

‘We believe that bookshops are essential to a healthy culture. They are where authors can connect with readers, where we discover new writers, where children get hooked on the thrill of reading that can last a lifetime. As more and more people buy their books online, we wanted to create an easy, convenient way for you to get your books and support independent bookshops at the same time. 10% of the cover price of your order will contribute to an earnings pool that will be evenly distributed among participating independent bookshops each month. We also support anyone who advocates for books through our affiliate programme, which pays a 10% commission to the affiliate on every sale.’
