Susan Sontag (born 1933) was one of the most prominent American writers of her generation. In 1964 she published her first essay ‘Notes on ‘Camp’’, and went on to a prolific career writing literary criticism, fiction and non-fiction.

Benjamin Moser (born 1976) is an American author who writes in both English and Portuguese. He has written several books, including biographies of Sontag and of the Brazlian writer Clarice Lispector. He is credited with having brought Lispector to international attention. Born in Houston, Texas, Moser attended Brown University where he studied history and Portuguese. He obtained his MA and Ph.D from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Moser lives in the Netherlands and France.
