A moving family memoir in which David Baddiel exposes his mother’s idiosyncratic sex life, and his father’s dementia, to the same affectionate scrutiny. On the surface, David Baddiel’s childhood was fairly standard: a lower-middle-class Jewish family living in an ordinary house in Dollis Hill, north-west London.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

David Baddiel (Born 1964) is a British author, screenwriter and comedian. He was born in New York, moving to London with his parents when he was only four months old. Both his parents were Jewish. His father came from a working class background in Swansea, Wales. He worked as a research chemist at Unilever, and after being made redundant sold Dinky Toys at Grays Antique Market. His mother was bornin Nazi Germany, fleeing with her family fron Nazi Germany in 1939, when she was only five months old. David Baddiel read English at King’s College Cambridgce where he obtained a double first degree in English and performed with the Footlights comedy sketch troupe.
