milton friedman: the last conservative (2023)

Milton Friedman (1912 – 2006) was an American economist and statistician who received the 1976 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his research on consumption analysis AND monetary history and theory. With George Stigler, Friedman was among the intellectual leaders of the Chicago school of economics, a neoclassical school of economic thought associated with the faculty at the University of Chicago that rejected Keynesianism in favor of monetarism.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jennifer Burns is an Associae Professor of History at Stanford University, and is also a Research fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution. Her work focuses on the history of conservative US politics. In addition to her books (on Milton Friedman and Ayn Rand) she has written for the New York Times and the Financial Times. She obtained her undergraduate degree in History at Harvard University in 1998, and her MA and Ph.D at the University of California.
