JOHN BEW
CITIZEN CLEM: A BIOGRAPHY OF ATTLEE (2016)
Winner of the 2017 Orwell Prize for Political Writing.
John Bew’s biography of Clement Attlee is unashamedly admiring. He sees Attlee not as a person of modest talents in the shadow of Churchill, but as a great prime minister whose achievements transformed post-war Britain.
