Jimmy Carter (born 1924) served as the 39th President of the USA. He was previously Governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975. Born in Plains, Georgia, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946 and joined the Navy submarine service.

Kai Bird (born 1951) is an American columnist and author who won the Pulitzer Prize for his biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer. He obtained his BA in History from Carleton College and a M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University. In 2017 he became executive director Levy Center for Biography at the City University of New York.
