John F. Kennedy (born 1917) was the 35th President of the USA, serving from 1961 until Iin 1963 he was assassinated while driving in a motorcade through Dallas, Texas. He is, at 43, the youngest person to have been elected as President.

Robert Dallek (born 1934) is a historian specialising in the modern history and politics of the USA. He was educated at the University of Illinois and at Columbia University where he took his PhD. He has been a professor of history at the University of California Los Angeles, and at Boston University. He has written biographies of John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Henry Kissinger.
