Franklin Roosevelt (born 1882) was a Democrat politician, Governor of New York State, and 32nd President of the USA. After being elected in a landslide, he launched a massive programme to address the Great Depression.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Robert Dallek (born 1934) is a historian specialising in the modern history and politics of the USA. He was educated at the University of Illinois and at Columbia University where he took his PhD. He has been a professor of history at the University of California Los Angeles, and at Boston University. He has written biographies of John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Henry Kissinger.
